"Black Swan, New Ground"
Black Swan, New Ground is a visually powerful coming-of-age short film that explores ambition, resilience, and the courage to dream beyond rejection. Centered around a young Black girl inspired by the elegance and artistry of Black ballerinas, the film follows her journey as she auditions for a local dance showcase only to be turned away. In the midst of heartbreak, she slips into a dreamlike world where dancers appear on her stoop, lifting her spirit and reminding her that purpose is bigger than a single “no.” Through cinematic storytelling, emotional visuals, and symbolic dance sequences, Black Swan, New Ground captures the beauty of perseverance, representation, and creative transformation.
